Pomegranate! My color repertoire did not really have pomegranate until I began living in Tucson, Arizona. The color from the actual rinds, and fresh ones, gives a beautiful color unlike dried powders. Sometimes I add guar gum as a thickener. I always make rusty water to use alternatively to iron grains or powder. Calcium Carbonate, or chalk, bring out a depth in yellow hues, and the baking soda supplies alkalinity to alter the color. I've hoarded the flowers when the fall from the tree, as they have a tiny pom rind. Surprise again, there are certain trees that are hosts to various moths, Lucky there was no disaster in the house! In the fall I am cutting rinds off of the full fruit and freezing them.
