The between the lines series of which there are five, are mostly single layered paper on wood, with Kakishibu solution, the unripe persimmons are used. It acts as a glue and a dye, since it has tannins in it. It is used to enhance and protect wood as well as to dye yarns in shades of warm browns. Waterproofing paper and protecting baskets from deterioration are also uses for kakishibu in Japan.
